January 14, 2015 Regular meeting

Program: Designing with Shrubs
Terena Hantelman is a Landscape Journeyman and Horticulturist as well as the Garden Centre Manager for Aubin Nurseries in Carman. She has her own landscape design business and teaches the Red Seal Landscape program at Red River College. She will be talking about designing with Manitoba-proven shrubs in new and existing landscapes.

January 29, 30 and 31, MHA Convention

Program: This year the MHA Convention is at the Charleswood United Church.

February 11, 2015 Regular meeting

Program: Seed Stories
Club members will be sharing suggestions of tried and true varieties, successful perennial-starting stories, solutions to planting failures, which seeds you shouldn't bother saving, etc. A group order will be placed to a selection of seed companies. Please bring any seeds you wish to trade.

March 11, 2015 Regular meeting

Program: Flower Farming
Carol Bergman is a professional flower farmer/designer who will be telling us about her enterprises and how some of her practices could be applied to our own gardens.

April 8, 2015 Regular meeting

Prgoram: Nursery Tour
Dave Hanson will be giving us a tour of Sage Garden which he claims is the most aromatic and tasty space in Winnipeg. These greenhouses use 100% natural fertilizers and 100% non-toxic pest management. They are located at 3410 St. Mary's Road - this is about 5 minutes south of the Perimeter Highway, on the west side of St. Mary's Road. This tour is open to Charleswood Garden Club members only due to space restrictions

May 21, 2015 Perennials and Annuals Auction Sale

Auction at Westdale CC, 550 Dale Blvd: Set-up will begin at 4:30 and auction will start at 6:30.

September 23, 2015 Pot Luck Supper

Set-up at 5:00 and dinner at 6:00 pm, Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd.

Program: Growing Swet Potatoes in Manitoba
Tiffany Grenkow discussed curious facts, growing instructions, tips and tricks for a bigger crop and harvesting and curing for a long shelf life.

Program: Christmas Socializing
A few festive activities (courtesy of Diane Balez) and treats were enjoyed by all. Members brought food items for the Charleswood Food Bank.

I decided to grow it; now what do I do with it?

After a couple of years of traditional in ground gardening Anita Jacobson and her husband Tim went with raised beds so they would be able to continue to garden as they got older. Anita will talk about what they grow and how growing it fits their life. She looks forward to sharing some ideas of what to do with produce.
