Regular meetings usually take place on the second Wednesday of the month from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm at 5006 Roblin Blvd. (between fire hall and library).

Program: The Essentials of Healthy Soil
Organic gardening educator Dave Hanson will discuss the essentials of healthy soil and share easy ways to build soil that will support a variety of planting situations and specific crops such as acid loving plants.

February 13, 2019 Regular meeting

Program: Manitoba Bees: How to Support Them
Dr. Jason Gibbs, Assistant Professor of Entomology at the U of M will highlight the remarkable diversity of Manitoba's native bees, risks they face and steps to mitigate decline in populations.

March 13, 2019 Regular meeting

Program: Gardening Organically
Lori Ann Regnier of Blue Lagoon Organics, will talk about what it means to the home gardener to grow organically in terms of soil, fertilizers, pest and weed control, quality of product and commercial certification.

April 10, 2019 Regular meeting

Program: What's New for Summer 2019
Susan Jensen Stubbe of Jensen's Garden Centre, will tell us what's new in the plant world of flowers, herbs and vegetables as we plan for summer. Are you adventurous enough to try something new in 2019?

May 23, 2019 Plant Auction

A large selection of bedding plants, perennials and hanging baskets including old and new varieties will be available at this live auction. The auction is at Westdale CC, 550 Dale Blvd. Set-up begins at 4:30 pm and auction starts at 6:30 pm.

June 15, 2019 Sundae Saturday at Garden Plots 3:00 pm

Eat ice cream sundaes as you wander around discovering what interesting things our gardeners are doing.

August TBA, 2019 Gardeners' Market 9:00 am

Members donate produce, homemade baking, perennials and unneeded garden tools. Old Library Parking Lot.

September 28, 2019 Regular meeting

Program: Wonderful World of Winter Squash
A workshop led by Getty Stewart, professional home economist and educator, will show us how to store and cook these complex and beautifully diverse vegetables. A taste test will follow.

October 9, 2019 Regular meeting

Program: Gardening in the Moment
Jeannette Adams, Master Gardener, will talk about planning our garden spaces to fully appreciate the therapeutic effects of sight, smell, touch, taste and sound.

November 13, 2019 Regular meeting

Program: Houseplants and Indoor Gardens
Elaine Stechisen, Ambassador for Shelmerdine's will discuss the physical and psychological benefits of maintaining a connection to nature throughout the winter months.

December 12, 2019 Pot Luck Supper and Christmas Program

Program: Pot Luck Supper
Enjoy a pot luck supper with fellow members followed by festive activities and socializing. Please bring a potluck dish to share, your own cutlery, plate, and cup. Also bring a food item to donate to Charleswood Food Bank.

I decided to grow it; now what do I do with it?

After a couple of years of traditional in ground gardening Anita Jacobson and her husband Tim went with raised beds as they knew they were in their forever home and wanted to be able to continue to garden as they got older. Anita will talk about what they grow and how growing it fits their life. She looks forward to sharing some ideas of what to do with produce.

E-transfer $10.00 to membership@charleswoodgc.ca or mail a cheque to: 1422 Loudoun Road, R3S 1A4 and make the cheque payable to Noreen Kolesar. Please include your address and phone number. Your membership card with your membership number will be available to pick up at our next regular meeting.
