Regular meetings usually take place on the second Wednesday of the month from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm at 5006 Roblin Blvd. (between fire hall and library).

Program: Strategies for Dry Shade
Linda Dietrick shared plant choices and techniques for coping with dry, shady areas in the garden.

January 28, 29, and 30, 2016 MHA Convention in Neepawa

Program: This year the MHA Convention is in Neepawa.

February 10, 2016 Regular meeting

Members shared short stories on a variety of topics including rosemary success/failure, convention learnings, microgreen tasting and challenge and what on earth is a Titan Arum.

April 16, 2016 Greenhouse tour

Program: In lieu of our regular meeting we will be going to Shriemer's Greenhouse for a tour of their facilities.

May 21, 2016 Perennials and Annuals Auction Sale

Auction at Westdale CC, 550 Dale Blvd: Set-up will begin at 4:30 and auction will start at 6:30.

June 17-19 Summer Event

Program: Charleswood Garden Club registered with 2016 Canada Gardens to participate in Garden Days. Our event is Help a Fellow Gardener.
We are grateful to some of our members who have contributed much to our club over the years and who may not be able to garden as they used to. We have decided it is time to repay their efforts. Small teams of energetic members have volunteered to arrive at these nominated gardens during 'Garden Days' - June 17-19 and spend a few hours doing whatever the gardener wishes (weeding, planting, edging, etc.).

September 10, 2016 Gardeners Market

Program: Our Fall Sale is at Charleswood Legion parking lot, 6003 Roblin Blvd. Set-up and drop off of produce will begin at 8:00 and sale is from 9:00 to noon.

September 22, 2016 Pot Luck Supper

Set-up at 5:00 and dinner at 6:00 pm, Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd.

October 12, 2016 Regular meeting

Program: Hits & Misses
How did your garden grow? What was bountiful and what was less so? Join us for an evening of garden talk and learning. You are invited to share your successes and ask fellow gardeners about what didn t work and if they know why. We will also find out if anyone had sweet potato success.

November 9, 2016 Regular meeting

Program: A story of Mounds, Mulch and Mother Nature (Permaculture for your Garden).
Judy Schwartz, an experienced gardener, will be telling us about her eye-opening visit to Austrian permaculture sites. She will explain simple and common-sense sustainable ideas that decrease the amount of work we do in our own gardens.

December 14, 2016 Christmas meeting

Program: Christmas Socializing
Pat Roberts will be doing a short demo on making door swags before we begin our socializing. Snacks, both savory and sweet, are appreciated. Instead of a gift for gift exchange please bring a food item or cash for the Charleswood Food Bank.

I decided to grow it; now what do I do with it?

After a couple of years of traditional in ground gardening Anita Jacobson and her husband Tim went with raised beds as they knew they were in their forever home and wanted to be able to continue to garden as they got older. Anita will talk about what they grow and how growing it fits their life. She looks forward to sharing some ideas of what to do with produce.
