Auction Process

Read over and be familiar with the Auction Process defined on this page and Zoom features we are using.

Doors Open at 6:00 pm:

• We will use the Zoom platform. Click on the Auction Link to join.
• Change your screen name to your unique bidder number, sent to you by email. For instructions on how to do this, please read Additional Zoom Help for Bidders.

Auction Begins at 6:30 pm:

• The auction will run very much like a live, on-site auction
• Pictures of the donated plant and what it will look like at maturity will show on your screen
• All bidders will be muted initially
• Bidding will take place through the Raise Hand and Lower Hand features in Zoom

How to bid using Zoom Raised Hand Feature:

• To bid, use the Raise Hand feature
• The Raise Hand will appear on your screen over your picture
• To stop bidding, use the Lower Hand feature
• If you want more than one of the plants being auctioned, follow the auctioneer’s instructions.
• The auctioneer may ask you to unmute to answer any questions

Internet or Zoom Issues:

• If for any reason there are internet or zoom issues during the auction, please just log out and then log back in using the same zoom link.

Following the Auction:

• A spreadsheet will be posted on our website (no name given, just your member/bidder number) listing the plants you purchased, the pickup location(s), your pickup time and the amount owing to the Charleswood Garden Club
• Successful bidders will receive an email with a link to the spreadsheet following the auction.

Payment:

• Payment Methods:
• e-transfer is preferable. Send an e-transfer to treasurer@charleswoodgc.ca. Please include your member/bidder number in the comments.
• cheque made payable to Charleswood Garden Club, delivered on pickup day
• exact cash, in an envelope identified with your member/bidder number on pick-up day

Plant Pick-Up:

• Saturday, May 28^th, 10 am-2 pm. Please wear your mask for curbside pickup
• The spreadsheet will give you a suggested specific time frame to pick up your plants
• Depending on what you purchased you may need to go to two locations for pickup. The pickup location for each plant will be listed on the spreadsheet.

Zoom Support:

• We will not be able to give you Zoom support once auction starts at 6:30
• Additional help using ZOOM including learning how to change your screen name and using the Raise Hand feature to bid, can be found at Additional Zoom Help for Bidders.
• If you have additional questions about the auction process or require assistance with Zoom prior to the auction, email info@charleswoodgc.ca well before the auction begins and put Auction Question in the subject line.

Be Covid Smart:

When picking up your plants, wear a mask and maintain a physical distance of 6 feet from others.

After a couple of years of traditional in ground gardening Anita Jacobson and her husband Tim went with raised beds as they knew they were in their forever home and wanted to be able to continue to garden as they got older. Anita will talk about what they grow and how growing it fits their life. She looks forward to sharing some ideas of what to do with produce.

Become a Member

E-transfer $10.00 to membership@charleswoodgc.ca or mail a cheque to: 1422 Loudoun Road, R3S 1A4 and make the cheque payable to Noreen Kolesar. Please include your address and phone number. Your membership card with your membership number will be available to pick up at our next regular meeting.
